Benefits of Hiking
A trek may seem easy for someone and challenging for others. Toughness is a relative term. It also depends upon weather conditions and the ability to cope up with new challenges thrown by the mighty nature. Sometimes a normal hike like Kheerganga feels excruciating if weather conditions are not favorable. I’m listing some challenging treks in terms of length of the trek, terrain, and technical skills involved.
Which ones are the most interesting effects of hiking, and why is that?
Benefits of hiking/backpacking:1. It's recreational exercise. Not only will you burn fat from hours of hiking with a pack, over time you will gain muscle strength and stamina.
2. Hiking in the wilderness is healthy for the mind and spirit. It is a time proven stress relief activity. Being a part of nature provides a temporary release from the daily stressors of life.
3. Spending time in nature is educational and provides perspective on our environment. You might even learn that many of your fears of wildlife are unfounded.
4. Hiking and camping will present challenges and take you out of your comfort zone. This leads to a feeling of accomplishment and a greater sense of self-worth.
You should start with an easy trek. I have been to a trek in Uttarakhand, The Kedarkanth Trek. It is considered as one of the easy winter treks of India. It starts from Sankri, a town located 200 Kms ahead of Dehradun. The trek is approximately 22 km long and the duration varies from 4–5 days depending upon the Travel Group you're going with. I would definitely recommend you this trek, because it covers almost all the aspects of a trek, including meadows, forests, frozen lakes, and so on.
